Types of STD
Syphilis - This STD first appears
as a sore located at initial point of exposure. Rash-like
skin lesions then appear a few weeks later along with
fever, malaise, and enlarged lymph nodes. If this STD is
untreated, it can lead to damage of the nervous system,
heart, and brain. This STD can also lead to death.
Gonorrhea - Symptoms of this STD include burning
sensations when urinating, pus from penis, vaginal
discharge that is yellow or bloody, and vaginal bleeding
during sex.
Chlamydia - This STD can cause
unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge, pain in the
abdomen, painful sex, fever, painful urination, swollen
or tender testicles, urge to urinate more frequently than
usual.
Chancroid - Painful ulcers on the genitalia are
symptomatic of this STD.
Donovanosis - This STD causes
lesions in the anal area.
non-gonococcal
urethritis -
Inflammation of the urethra can be caused by this STD.
Aids - this infamous STD
causes progressive destruction of the body's immune
system - resulting in death.
Herpes - This STD causes
blisters anywhere on the body, but especially the mouth
and genital areas.
Genital
Warts -
This STD is highly contagious - 2/3 the people having sex
with an infected individual become infected. As the name
describes, this STD is characterized by warts on the
genitalia.
Cytomegalovirus - This STD can lead to
fever and enlarged liver.
Hepatitus - Symptoms of this STD disease include
abdominal pain, fever, yellowing of skin and eyes, and
enlarged liver.
Molluscum
contagiosum - This
STD is characterized by lesions on the genitals, abdomen,
buttocks, or inner thigh.
Pubic
lice -
An STD caused by parasites that feed on human blood, and
the bites causes itching.
Scabies - An STD characterized
by an itchy skin rash caused by parasitic mites.
Candidiasis - a.k.a. yeast
infection. This STD causes itching and irritation of the
vagina and/or vulva, sometimes accompanied with a whitish
discharge.
Amoebiasis - Symptoms of this STD
include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever.
Giardiasis - This STD causes loss
of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, loose or watery stool,
stomach cramps, upset stomach, bloating, and flatulence.
Trichomoniasis - An STD characterized
by heavy, yellow-green or gray vaginal discharge, whitish
discharge from penis, painful urination, irritation and
itching of female genital area, discomfort during
intercourse, and abdominal pain.
